My Tea Diary

Your tea may be free. Mine definitely is not.

Ashleigh at the Hayley Williams tour in a green tee and backwards cap, sweaty, throwing up a W

Hayley Williams tour, drenched in sweat, living my best life. If I’m not doing this, beloved, I must be compensated for spilling thy tea.

If you’re my friend, you already know this tea.

You got it for free, as a nine-minute audio note of me losing my shit.

If you’re not my friend, you don’t know this tea.

We don’t have the relationship for free tea.

So if you’re curious, you pay me to partake in the consumption of my tea.

That’s the whole business model.

My Tea Diary is a subscription to my personal Substack.

Eight dollars a month.

Twice a week, I open the diary.

The relationship, the body, the money, the thing I said at dinner that I’m still thinking about.

I spent twelve years selling other people’s stories.

This is the one I own.

Sorry not sorry.

What a week looks like

Two posts a week. One is the drama. One is the paycheck.

Ashleigh sticking her tongue out next to Jess under the paper lanterns at Cubbyhole

Me and Jess at good ole Cubbyhole.

No set days.

Whatever my heart is doing that week decides.

The drama is a chapter from the book I haven’t published, which is essentially my memoir, then how I feel about it now.

Usually different. Usually worse for me.

Where the relationship is.

Where I am.

What I’m scared of this week and what I did about it, if anything.

The paycheck is Made Not Measured.

How to make a living from your social media without making social media your whole life.

And Murder & Marketing, which is not a bit.

The two are 100% connected and I will keep proving it until you believe me.

No lesson at the end of the drama.

The paycheck is all lesson.

One day you watch me set my life on fire.

The next day I teach you how to sell the ashes.

Chaos and a curriculum, for eight dollars.

That is the best of both worlds and Hannah Montana never charged you.

Why it’s paid

The paywall is a door, not a price tag.

This is my life, so I get to pick who’s in the room.

Eight dollars keeps out the people who only showed up to be mean.

And if you pay eight dollars a month to be mean to me, you are paying me to be mean to me, and I need you to sit with that.

Then keep paying.

I have a book to finish.

Eight dollars keeps the mean people out. The matcha was eleven.

House rule. Screenshots are fine. Screenshots with my ex’s name circled are not.

What it is not

Not the Wednesday fifty. Not advice. Not for everyone.

GLAAD Honors. A room full of people who get it. The diary is that room.

The free post ideas stay free, every Wednesday, forever.

This is a different door.

Nothing in here will grow your account.

It might make you feel less alone in yours.

If reading somebody’s actual diary makes you itchy, the fifty are right there and they love you.

My Notes are free.

My threads land on my Substack as Notes, plus the shit I post between posts, all of it, at @ashleighro.

The diary is the only paid thing.

Eight dollars a month. Cheaper than therapy, mine or yours.

Two posts a week, on my personal Substack. One drama, one paycheck. Inbox or the app, your call.

  • Cancel in two clicks in your Substack account. The posts you paid for stay readable.
  • Renews at $8 a month until you stop it. Substack handles the billing, not me.
  • Separate from the Wednesday fifty and the paid Thursday year. This is the diary, not the method.
  • My threads land on the same Substack as Notes, free. The subscription is the diary.

Fair warning.

  • If we’re family, you might be in here.
  • If I’ve loved you and you loved me back, you’re probably in here.
  • If you’ve broken my heart, you’re definitely in here.
  • If you’ve done something fucked up to me, you’re definitely, definitely in here.
  • If you’ve done something fucked up to the world, you’re definitely, definitely, definitely, definitely in here.

Names changed. Behavior not.

Where this goes

Start with Wednesday.

This week’s fifty are already written.

You’re the only thing missing.

Subscribe on Substack and they land the second you confirm.

One click out whenever you want.
