Refund policy

Every refund rule, in one place.

What gets money back, what does not, and how to ask.

Last updated October 31, 2026.

Questions go through the contact form.

Pick “Billing, order or refund question” and it reaches me the same day.

The short version

Refunds are for things that arrived wrong. Not for changing your mind.

Books have a 30-day money-back guarantee from the day they are delivered, unread and in the condition they arrived in.

Subscriptions cancel any time in your Substack account.

Charges already made are not refunded.

PopCall bills by the minute while we are connected.

Minutes used are not refunded.

Consulting time is paid for when it is delivered.

Deposits are kept once work starts.

Nothing here is refunded because you did not read it, did not use it, or expected a different result.

Every page on this site says what the thing is before you pay for it.

Books

Thirty days from delivery, unread, as it arrived.

The hardcover, the paperback and the two-book bundle are printed on demand and shipped by Lulu.

  • Window. You have 30 days from the delivery date your tracking shows.
  • Condition. Unread and in the condition it arrived in. No creased spine, no marks, no missing dust jacket. If it has been read, it is yours.
  • Return shipping is on you. Use a tracked service. I refund the price of the book when it arrives back. The original shipping charge is not refunded.
  • Refund timing. Within 10 business days of the book arriving back, to the card you paid with.
  • Bundles. Return one book from the bundle and you get back the difference between the bundle price and the single-book price of the one you kept.
  • Damaged, misprinted or the wrong book. Send a photo through the contact form within 14 days of delivery. A replacement ships free. You do not pay to send the bad copy back unless I ask for it.
  • Lost in transit. If tracking stalls for 15 business days in the US or 30 outside it, I ship a replacement. If the first one turns up later, keep it.
  • No exchanges between titles. The books are different products. Return one under the rules above and order the other.

How to return.

Use the contact form, pick “Billing, order or refund question,” and include your order number, then send the book to Velocity Tech Inc., 382 NE 191st St #352040, Miami, FL 33179.

Digital previews

The PDF chapters and the comment previews are not refundable.

When you order the Field Guide, the first two chapters land as a PDF the minute you pay, then one chapter per email until the book arrives.

When you order Spill the tea, you get fifteen comments the night you order and fifteen more the second week.

Those are delivered the moment they send and cannot be un-sent.

Returning the printed book does not refund the preview, and the preview is for your personal use only.

Newsletter subscriptions

Cancel any time. Charges already made stay made.

Teaching Thursdays ($47 a year or $8 a month) and My Tea Diary ($8 a month) are billed by Substack, on my Substack publications.

  • Cancel in two clicks in your Substack account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not refund the current period.
  • Annual plans are not prorated. Cancel in month three and you keep access through month twelve, and the $47 is not refunded.
  • Renewals. Monthly renews monthly, annual renews yearly, at the price shown on the page when you joined. If the price changes, Substack tells you before the next charge.
  • Duplicate or mistaken charges from Substack get fixed. Send the receipt through the contact form.
  • The free Wednesday fifty is free. There is nothing to refund and nothing to cancel except the email itself, which has an unsubscribe link at the bottom.

Not reading the emails, not opening them, or deciding the chapter was not for you is not a refund reason.

The plan card says exactly what arrives and when.

PopCall

You pay for connected minutes. Connected minutes are not refunded.

Calls, texts, audio notes and video calls run through PopCall at $7.77 a minute.

PopCall bills you, not me.

  • You are only charged while the call is connected. Ringing, voicemail and missed calls cost nothing.
  • You can hang up at any second. You pay for the minutes that happened.
  • Texts and audio notes only charge if I reply within two days. No reply, no charge.
  • Holds. PopCall places a temporary hold when you call, about thirty minutes’ worth. You are charged for the real length and the rest releases within five days. A hold is not a charge.
  • If the call drops on my end or my connection fails, tell me through the contact form within 7 days. I will make it right, usually by covering the lost minutes on a follow-up call.
  • Disputes. PopCall records calls and keeps them 180 days. If we disagree about what happened, that is the record.

Not liking the answer, wanting a longer answer, or deciding afterward that the question was not worth $7.77 a minute is not a refund reason.

The meter is explained on the PopCall page before you dial.

Consulting and projects

Time and work delivered are paid for.

  • Hourly or per-minute consulting is earned when the time is spent. It is not refunded afterward.
  • Project deposits hold your spot and cover the start of the work. Once work begins they are not refunded.
  • Prepaid blocks of time can be refunded in full within 30 days of purchase if none of the time has been used. After that, or after any session, they are not.
  • Results are not guaranteed. Case studies on this site are real client numbers and are not typical. Your account, your spend and your platforms are yours, and so are the outcomes.
  • Cancelling a project mid-way: you owe for work completed to that date. Anything beyond that is refunded.

What is not a refund reason

The list, so nobody has to find out the hard way.

  • You did not read the book, the emails, or the page that explained the product.
  • You did not understand how Substack, PopCall or Lulu works. Each is explained on the page before you buy, and on this one.
  • You expected a different result from the advice, the book or the newsletter.
  • You changed your mind after the item shipped, the email sent, or the call connected.
  • You bought the wrong tier, the wrong book, or the wrong plan and used it anyway.
  • You disagree with something I said. That is allowed. It is not a refund.

Chargebacks

Ask me first. It is faster.

If something went wrong, the contact form gets a human answer and usually a fix inside two business days.

A chargeback takes weeks and freezes the money for both of us.

A chargeback filed for a product you received, a call that connected, or a subscription you used is treated as fraud.

I contest it with the delivery record, the recording or the access log, and close the account.

How to ask

One form. Same-day reply on weekdays.

Go to Talk to me, pick “Billing, order or refund question,” and put the order number, the date, and what happened in the details box.

Photos help for damaged books.
